Pampering Myself this Weekend

Blue toes for baby boy!
On the spur of the moment, I asked for the day off yesterday to make this a long weekend.  Maybe my last before baby arrives and we are a family of 4??  Labor day weekend is soon, so I may get another.   Yesterday, I tried to polish my toes but they are too hard to get to, so went out for a pedicure.  I picked a fun bright blue color - blue for baby boy.  I wonder if this baby boy will have his daddy's bright blue eyes?  I'm getting excited to see his little face and decide his name.

Last night, I gave myself a French manicure.  Its been a long time since I did one and it turned out pretty well.  I considered getting a professional manicure with the long lasting gel polish but my nails grow so fast that I think I would have that gap from new growth really quickly.  Honestly, I've been sitting around not up and doing things so I've been successful at letting my nails fully dry.

The icing in the cake happened this morning.  My lovely co-workers surprised me with a gift certificate for a spa.  I just finished my prenatal facial.  It was fantastic.  I love a good facial; all the scrubbing and beautifying, plus a little gentle massage. Ahhhh, relaxing.  Now I plan to sit and enjoy the relaxing room for a couple of minutes and read a magazine.   Ahhhhh, again.

Tonight, we are having friends over for bbq ribs.  All around good day - now baby boy - stay put for another 24 hours ok??  ;)

What I Feel Good In

Lately, I've been expanding my blog reading repetoir.  I've been reading fewer home/decor blogs and more family blogs.  I've also been really enjoying looking at fashion on Pinterest, so I think I'll look for a couple of blogs in that area too.  Oh yeah - food topics too, as I am a food person professionally, and I would like to find some food and nutrition blogs that I can identify with.  I want to write about food and nutrition but I feel like I need to be so serious and perfect with the content so I haven't made the leap yet... I'm getting there.

Sorta Crunchy is one blogger I've recently added, and she's now lead me to Hollywood Housewife, who's hosting a link party asking readers what they've been wearing this summer.  When I clicked over to HH, I noticed she is also pregnant.  I took it as a sign that this is another blog to add to list and join in the link party.

My wardrobe has become smaller and smaller as this pregnancy has gone on.  With my first baby, I gained a perfect 25 pounds, about 15 of which never really went away.  This pregnancy, whoa, I'm at a 40 pound gain, (plus that 15# of leftover wt) and I may still have more to grow.  It really doesn't get me down, there isn't anything that can be done about it now anyhow, just have the baby and nurse like crazy.  I'm looking forward to getting back into shape and reclaiming or more correctly - claiming - my new-mommy-of-two-body back.  I've grown out of many of my maternity clothes.  Pants are not my friends.  Long dresses and long skirts cover my dimpled thighs and swollen ankles much better.  Long skirts also allow me to tuck the extra fabric around my legs so my skin doesn't touch while I toil away at my desk job.

My favorite outfit this summer has been this dress I bought at Target in May.   The dress was a little too long when I bought it but my expanding belly fixed that pretty quickly.  My hair has been really thick this summer, thanks to the hormones.  I've also been wearing the same (sensible and boring) black sandals all summer.  This week when they became too tight for my swollen feet and I bought a pair of men's flip flops on clearance.  Nice.

Curiously, I've even grown out of a lot of my jewelry. Weird, right?   I haven't worn my engagement ring since May.  I don't think I could pry my wedding band off of my finger if I had to.  My 16" recklessness all feel to small around my neck and bracelets have left marks on my wrists from being too tight.  I've been trying to wear bigger earrings then I normally do  to add a little something sparkly.

This summer has been a very hot one in Indiana.  I've had to inside constantly.  I haven't been able to garden or walk, or just enjoy the heat as I normally would.  Feels like I've squandered away the summer.  Here's to looking towards Fall and wearing shirts with easy-boob access to feed baby boy #2!  At least the weather should be pleasant enough that we can stroll around outside without melting into the pavement.
