Centsational Girl is hosting a blog link party about vacation spots. My favorites are Europe. I would like to travel to South America and Asia too, a Disney Cruise would also be nice. Heck, an weekend in French Lick Indiana would be nice too! I'll need to start a fund for those trips.
France will always be my favorite travel destination. You can see the photos here, that Mrs Dietitian enjoys a healthy amount of food while she travels, especially in France. These photos are all from our honeymoon in Paris. The parks are great for people watching - see the older 'gens' playing petanque (sorta like bocce ball). In the bottom corner of the collage, there's a street musician taking a little break and and older couple taking a stroll. I also recommend the Loire Valley for friendly people, good Rose wine, and great chateaus. Chenonceau is my favorite. Aix-en-Provence is also beautiful, with the best market ever. I need to scan my 'analog' photos so I can have digital files of these places for blogging. Most of my European trips were pre-digital camera.
London is a another favorite. I really like that it felt like a smaller city, cozy even. Not nearly as 'fast' as Paris. My first trip to London was a steal - I think the whole thing, air fare included cost less than $1000. We did leave for the UK when the US was declaring war on Iraq for the second time - air fare was pretty cheap for that reason. Brandon and I returned for our honeymoon. It was great because my friends had already taken me to some great pubs, so I took Brandon back to those places. Pub food is so yummy. Fish and chips, bangers and mash, chips with lots of vinegar. I like to apply the vinegar when the chips are super hot and then the vinegar becomes very aromatic and sorta smacks you in the face. I don't know why that's appealing to me - but it is. The collage below is Hyde park (chairs), Pub food, me looking a map across the Thames from Parliment, the Tube, and a good dinner at a Belgian restaurant. While is London we also had great Japanese soup at Wagamama Noodle Bar, fun sushi at this place where the you pick your dishes off of a little conveyor belt that goes by your seat, and good sandwiches at Pret a Manger. Are you sensing my foodie travel theme?
Since I'm a Michigander living in the Hoosier state, vacation in Michigan are also a great desination. Below, my sorority sister Lisa and I are happy to be outside Traverse City sampling many different wines. I also like Mackinaw and Petoskey in the northern lower pennisula of Michigan. I would like to visit more of the west coast of the state and the Lake Michigan shoreline. I see camping trips in my future with my two little boys... Hopefully Lisa and her new baby girl and hubby will join us! Bring wine!
I need a vacation, its been too long. It is nice to remember the fun places I've been and want to go back to.
