The Heat Continues

The heat wave in Indiana continues. Temps have been in the 90s for days, with 500% humidity. Look and how hot and sweaty we were at the fair!

Stay cool, venture outside in the AM and PM, stay hydrated - these are my words to the wise.

We have family visiting this weekend. We're looking forward to serving some of our recent 'harvest' from the garden - The tomatoes are in - and smoking ribs on the BBQ. Have a nice weekend!

Food Booths at the Fair

The Indiana State Fair Has Arrived!  My little family made plans to take our Little Bear to the Fair.  We oooed and aaaah'd over the horses, pigs, and cows.  And we ate weird fried things.  In my dietitian defence, we (me) ate a huge salad and Aidan had lots of fruit too.  I've got more details to come on the crazy treats we ate.  Here are some of the best food booths we saw.

Chocolate covered bacon was worth the try!  I could see us making it at home on a crazy whim.

Well this must be healthy food because it's by "Dr Vegetable."  Deep fried veggies just aren't that tasty in my opinion.  Deep fried and battered butter on the hand - tasty.  Regular veggie were availble in the Ag building, as was milk and fresh fruit, tomato juice.  I boought Aidan and myself lunch there.  Daddy decided he'd rather have a Garbage burger.  It was a pork patty, topped with shreaded pork BBQ.  It did nopt look very good to me.  I would';ve had a corn dog - but the last time I had one I got a tummy ache - so I avoided them.  I must say that their is something weird about all the fired food at the fair.  It's just SOOOO hot, greasy fried food really doesn't sound very good in that heat.  At least to me.  I may be the only one.
