Garbage Rescue - Adirondack chairs

Would you believe I also pulled these two Adirondack chairs and the little table from another neighbor's garbage? They were a little weathered and green. I just spray painted them with the special plastic spray paint.
My porch was a little too narrow for the chairs, so they are now on my back deck. Oh look, You can see me in the window...

Here they are on the deck - perfect! Now for the rest of deck... needs a bit of work...

Chores Completed this Weekend

B worked super hard all weekend completing chores around the house. My job was to keep Little bear occupied. We watched movies, went to the pool, etc. Since I'm super pleased with everything B accomplished I feel I must record a list. I'm a lucky girl :)

Here's a little list of what B completed, in no particular order:
-Made dinner x2, plus breakfast x2
-Smoked a pork shoulder for pulled pork BBQ
-Replaced our dryer vent in the crawl space! The dryer now actually drys clothes. Amazing.
-Hooked up a de-humidifier for the crawl space
-Finished the water barrel details in the back yard
-Helped me mix dirt and fill the last two square foot gardens. I was able to plant them in the evening when baby was asleep.
-Cleaned both cars, which were very dirty
- Tried to make a Tiki torch holder in the backyard out of an old post. It's a little crooked. We'll forgive for that. (ha ha)
- Smashed up the rickety stairs to the deck. The crap stairs that broke our puppy's leg last year. The stupid stairs that cost us several thousand dollars of emergency doggy repair. I think he probably enjoyed smashing those stairs.
- Worked on computer stuff... uploaded CDs to iTunes, paid bills, etc.

I'm pretty sure he did more stuff too. Thank you Sweetie!

We had a total of 6-7 trips to the hardware store. I lost count.

Seems like I should have completed more...

From Garbage Rust-heap to My Slice of Parisian Cafe

Mother's Day evening we took a little family stroll around the neighborhood and found this little table and chairs at the curb or our neighbor's. Since it was only two houses down, I went picked them up and took them home.

They aren't in fabulous shape, the rust is pretty bad underneath but workable. While Little Bear napped on Saturday afternoon, I used an electric sander to take off as must rust as I could. I probably should have had a mask over my face, but I didn't. B helped me remove the rusty nails keeping the vinyl pads in place. I'm holding on to them in the garage, just for measurement sake. I painted a coat of a rust-inhibiting primer and then spray painted them a glossy black.

Here's the (almost) finished product. I've bought some outdoor fabric in a modern yellow and green pattern to redo the seats.

I need two 15" wood rounds and two 11" wood rounds to secure the foam and fabric to and then fasten to the chairs. I'm not totally certain how to get that done... I'm hoping my father-in-law will have some tool to help us with cutting a circle out of wood...

So what about my front door?? It really needs a new coat of paint. This color is OK but too dark and matte for my taste. I've tried to think of a hip contrasting color that would really make the door 'pop.' B does not like yellows - so those are out. I keep coming back to a bright cherry red. If you have any great color suggestions, leave a comment!

PS. I also spray painted all of the flower planters red.

PPS. I'm linking to Reinvented's Trash to Treasure Tuesday
